Before entering law school, Dr Leslie Kurtz worked in New York as an actress and an assistant editor for a publishing house. A few years after graduating from law school, she merged her interests in law, theater and art by becoming a litigator in a New York firm specializing in entertainment law.
Professor Kurtz joined the U.C. Davis law faculty in 1981, where she teaches courses in the area of intellectual property, including copyright and trademark law. A graduate of Brown University, she has an M.A. in Theatre from New York University and J.D. from Columbia University. She has written extensively on copyright, particularly in the area of protection for fictional characters.
