August 2011
Artist's Reception, August 14th, 1-4 PM

"While there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see." ~Dorothea Lange.
For members of the Photography Club of Davis, cultivating such awareness is both a goal and an accomplishment. In August, Gallery 1855 is proud to once again showcase an array of extraordinary work by club members, including Mark Castellucci, Clyde Elmore, Joe Finkleman, Rob Floerke, Laurie Friedman, Ann Hance, Kevin O'Connor, Rich Owens, Jerry Schimke, Salie Yin and Rick York. This year's show has the theme "Davis: Quintessential and Infinitesimal."
Since its inception nearly three years ago, the Photography Club of Davis has participated in a partnership with the Natsoulas Gallery as well as being featured in multiple shows at Bistro 33, the International House of Davis, and Gallery 1855. The club also holds workshops, offers critiques, and staffs non-profit classes, including UCD Extension classes through the OLLI program.
Please come meet these photographers and experience their work at a free reception on Sunday, August 14th, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Gallery 1855, located in the office building on the historic grounds of the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole line Road (corner of E. 8th St.) Those unable to attend the reception may view the work weekdays from 9 AM to 3 PM from August 1st to August 31st at Gallery 1855. For further information about the August show, visit the cemetery website www.daviscemetery.org or call 530-756-7807. You can also visit www.photoclubofdavis.org to find out more about the Photography Club of Davis.
